Houston Family Arts Center

Construction Update

We are growing and we need space -- office space, rehearsal space, space to store our burgeoning costume collection, space for set construction.  Your donataion will help rent temporary facilities until funds can be raised to finish out our permanent home.

Currently, we're in full "development mode," making grant applications and mounting a development campaign in order to raise funds to purchase a large building on Woodedge Drive, a smaller building for set-building and/or set storage, and the land on which they stand.  Raising contributions will allow us to own the buildings debt-free before beginning  to build the theatre according to our drawings and plans.  While we are "chomping at the bit" to move into our permanent structure and stop our "tour of Northwest Houston" it is important that we are also responsible with the finances that have been entrusted to us.

Having the new theatre will mean an expanded season for HFAC. We’ll be able to produce dramas, comedies, and small musicals at Woodedge while we continue to mount large scale musicals at the Berry Center.

This will also provide a home for our workshops, rehearsals, and costume construction.  Carol Buck and Cindy Scott-McDowell, advanced design students
at the Art Institute of Houston have prepared detailed plans for a
new theatre that will seat 171 patrons, and includes a spacious office, a classroom for workshops, rehearsal space, and a Donor Wall where your name can be displayed as being a part of HFAC’s first building!

Touching hearts, touching lives, in a dramatic way!
